More street food

I took a few pictures of the lane in which I had my second helping for breakfast. It's rather narrow and has covered benches all along the length. A couple dozen stalls line the lane and offer many varieties of dishes.

This one says bullfrog and I think they were indeed skewers of the same.

Jiao Hua Ji (叫化鸡) means beggar's chicken. It's a specialty of the Hangzhou region. The myth, or one variant of many, behind it is that a beggar once stole a chicken and started a fire to cook it. Some guards were approaching so he hurriedly wrapped the chicken in lotus leaves, rolled it in mud and tossed it into the embers to hide it. Later, when the coast was clear, he found that the chicken was tender and juicy.
